Items in the “General” section at the top of the page will vary from course to course and links may change. Be sure to view all of the items for each course:
To take the quiz, click on the quiz link under the appropriate label:
Be sure to read the instructions and note your time limit, as well as when the quiz opens and closes. Click the Attempt quiz now button to take the quiz. :
When the quiz is completed, click “Finish attempt” at the bottom of the quiz. You will be directed to a “Summary of attempt” page: Click the Submit all and finish button to submit the quiz.
Tip: If you must exit the quiz before you’ve completed it, you may click on the “Return to attempt” button to resume.
To participate in online discussions, locate and click on the “Discussion” link in the current unit topic box:
Read the instructions for the discussion, including the grading rubric. Each discussion question will have its own discussion thread. Click on the discussion title to access the thread:
The discussion question will be at the top, posted by your cohort. You can individualize the discussion display format in the dropdown box at the top of the page. To respond to a post, click reply in the corner of the post to which you’re replying:
The post to which you’re responding will be at the top of the page. Type in your response and click post to forum:
To respond to one of your fellow students or your instructor, click “reply” in the corner of their post and follow the same steps.
To return to the discussion board, click on the “Discussion” breadcrumb at the top of the page or the discussion title under the related topic in the Navigation box:
Tip: The Navigation box is on the right side of the page.
To return to the class, click on the course title in the breadcrumb or the course title under the “Current Course” menu in the Navigation box:
Assignments
To submit an assignment, locate and click on the assignment link in the current topic box:
Read the instructions for the assignment, including the due date. Write your paper in a word processing program, noting the word count, and save it to your computer (be sure to note where you’ve saved in on your computer!). To submit your assignment, click the Add Submission button:
Open the file location and click and drag the document into the File submissions box or click on the “Add” button upload the document, then click the Save changes button:
You will be redirected to the Submission status page where your submission will show up under File submissions.
To return to the class, click on the course title in the breadcrumb or the course title under the “Current Course” menu in the Navigation box (see screen print above).
To check your grades, click on the Grades link under the “Course administration” menu in the Navigation box: Tip: The Navigation box is on the right side of the page.
Your grades are divided into categories. Scroll to the bottom for the Course Total to see your total grade (the grade begins at 0 and counts up as the course continues): Key: Calculated weight=the percentage that the grade is worth out of the total entered grades for that category; Grade=your actual grade; Range=the range your grade could fall in; Feedback=any comments from Instructor; Contribution to course total=the percentage of your total grade.
Viewing instructor feedback From the user report, you can see any feedback comments an instructor makes under the feedback column next to the assignment:
Sometimes an instructor will add a file with feedback for an assignment. To view the feedback file, from either the Grade user report or the main coursesite page, click on the assignment you want to see feedback files for:
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the file under “Feedback”:
